<![CDATA[BROTHERS POOLS - Blog]]>Fri, 03 Feb 2023 07:40:28 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[This is the Wrong thing to do!!!!!!!]]>Tue, 30 Dec 2014 08:42:23 GMThttp://brotherspoolstx.com/blog/this-is-the-wrong-thing-to-do
I sat and watch these 5 videos. Thinking these would be a great way to show you the customer what you can do to clean up your pools dirty surface.
I WAS WRONG!!!! You can hear these guy in the 5 videos they took, starting to doubt what they are doing. The truth is you would NOT need to do this to your plaster 5 times like they are showing you. They are actually using way to much acid on the surface of the pool.
READ THE BACK OF THE BOTTLE IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME.
1 Bottle per 10,000 gallons. This pool is only 10,000 to 12,000 gallons . Now, on the bottle it will talk about the water to acid ratio. So I do understand why you'd say, but wait that shouldn't even matter 1 bottle to 10,000. gallons. There's no water in the pool.
YOUR RIGHT. But dead wrong as well. See it's 10,000 gallons of water per one bottle of acid. The pore spout that the acid is coming out of in the video (green pore can) is only 2 gallons. Well, where is the other 9,998 Gallons at to balance out the raw power of the acid eating away the surface of the pool?
IT'S NOT THERE.
You can see clearly he is trying to expose the aggregate with all this acid at the 4:09 time slot in this video. Heck, he even touches the wall and says, "Its not EXPOSED". This is really important.
Now I have a question...... If this is not an EXPOSED AGGREGATE PLASTER ( IE: Pebble or Quartz), why expose the plaster's surface aggregate? There is NO REASON for this but to only make your plaster's surface weaker. Yes it cleans the plaster but you can do a lite power wash and it will do the same thing with out chemicals in your pool or in your yard for your animals and kids to play in...
You also could do this same thing with the water in the pool. Its called a HOT START UP. This allows the water to be acidic with out adding the acid directly on the plaster's surface. The Key to this step is brushing and using a sump pump to circulate the water in the pool. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A SPA. The acid will rust out some of the heater core. Trust me it's not a fun fix.....

So take it from someone that has been doing this for over 10 years. Just brush your pool as much as your can threw out the week and use liquid chlorine in your water or a chlorinator on you equipment to maintain it's clarity. If your needing to acid wash your pool like this ...... It's time to replaster. I will put a picture up at the end of all 5 videos showing what happens after you drain and acid a pool to much and no you don't have to watch all 5 videos to see the pic.
Thank you for stopping by.

Now I want you to look at the color of the plaster in this last video above. Same color, Hey......
Now look at the guy doing a full removal on the plaster in this pic. The plaster's surface is coming off because the acid EXPOSED THE PLASTERS SURFACE AGGREGATE and then filled the pool and used chlorine for only one year after the acid wash and it started to flake. look at picture below.

This is where this becomes a no no and a major problem.

But Don't Worry thou.... We can make it look like this after wards.

This is an Hydrazzo product on the left, that would be closest to the color (Brothers Blue), we are offering in the picture above. Each one of these products are made with Marble Dust & Quartz with Cement bonding. The Hydrazzo is polished afterwards. We do recommend this procedure for Brothers Blue as well. This is a extra price. But it is well worth the polished finish.
